Recently, Temer Properties took part in two impactful charity initiatives in Addis Ababa, leaving its mark not just with presence, but with action. By donating exercise books, pens, pencils, tissue papers, and umbrellas, the company extended its values of care, compassion, and community.

Sele Enat Mahiber – A Journey of Love

The first charity visit was to Sele Enat Mahiber (SEM), an organization that has been serving vulnerable children for over 24 years. SEM is more than a shelter it is a place where orphans and children without support find family, love, and hope.

Its story is both inspiring and deeply moving. Founded in 1994 E.C. by Mrs. Hanna, who worked at Tikur Anbessa Hospital, SEM began by caring for children affected by HIV. The very first child supported was named Sele Enat (ስለ እናት), and from her, the organization found its name.

Today, SEM cares for children from newborns to 18 years old, offering not only shelter but also education, healthcare, and emotional support. Their work is multi-faceted:

• Institutional carefor children living within the organization.
• Reunification and reintegration, reuniting children with relatives where possible.
• Domestic adoption programsthat place children into loving Ethiopian homes.
• Sponsorship programs, helping children attend school with supplies and resources.
• Women empowerment programsthat allow mothers to build sustainable lives.

Sele Enat also provides critical support for children with disabilities, including those with Down syndrome and autism. It is a place where every child, regardless of circumstance, is treated with dignity and love.

For Temer Properties, being able to contribute to such a cause was not just an act of charity it was a reminder of why communities matter. As we build homes and invest in real estate in Addis Ababa, we are equally committed to building a society where no child is left behind.

Yesir Lena – Empowering Mothers, Uplifting Families

The second charity event took us to Yesir Lena (የሲር ለና), a remarkable organization dedicated to helping mothers stand on their feet and families live with dignity. The name itself translates to “ሀገር አለን”, and its work truly lives up to that promise.

Currently supporting over 1,400 people, Ye Sir Lena provides:

• New clothingmade to size, giving families dignity and comfort.
• Monthly groceries (አስፔዛ)to ensure families never go w ithout food.
• Vocational and social supportto help mothers become financially independent.

But perhaps their most transformative project has been in water accessibility. For years, many mothers had to walk 10 kilometers daily to fetch water. With Ye Sir Lena’s water well projects, the journey is now reduced to only 10 meters changing lives overnight. More than 425 water wells have already been built across Oromia (Asosa, Gerba, Kokosa) and Southern Ethiopia (Gurage and Silte), bringing water and hope closer to homes.

Temer Properties proudly contributed by donating school supplies and everyday essentials to support Yesir Lena’s beneficiaries. It is our way of saying: as we build cities, we must also strengthen the people who bring life to them.
